The Memorial Washington Reformed Presbyterian Church
Elgin, Illinois
This page is dedicated to the memory of our ancestors who founded the Memorial Washington Reformed Presbyterian Church in Elgin, Illinois. Those Kane County Pioneers formed this church in 1841 although it took a few years for the church building itself to be constructed.
The last regular church service was held on September 9, 1906. A decade later the Washington Cemetery Association was founded by descendants of the original church founders. The group's annual meetings include a memorial service held inside the church. This has resulted in the church becoming known as the "Once A Year Church"
